FedEx and UPS "redelivery fee" text scam
These texts say a package could not be delivered until you pay a small fee, often under $3, through a link. FedEx and UPS do not hold packages for surprise fees sent by text.
How this scam works
The fee is so small that paying feels easier than checking. The fake payment page collects your card number, which is then used for bigger charges.
Common versions of the message
- A tiny unpaid redelivery fee
- A package about to be returned
- A link to pay now
What the message looks like
Text from +1 (555) 015-6612

Fictional example based on common, publicly reported scam patterns.
The red flags
- 1
Tiny fee: “unpaid $2.99 redelivery fee”
Small enough that you pay without checking
A surprise fee for a package you may not even be expecting is the bait.
- 2
Rushed deadline: “Pay within 12 hours”
So you pay before you look up the tracking number
The deadline is there so you pay before you look up the real tracking number.
- 3
Not FedEx: “fedex-redeliver-fee.top”
Real FedEx links end in fedex.com
Real FedEx links end in fedex.com and real UPS links end in ups.com.
What to do
- Do not tap the link.
- Track any package yourself on the carrier's site, using the tracking number from the seller.
- Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) and delete it.
If you already replied, clicked, or paid
- If you entered card details, call the number on your card and ask for a new card.
- Watch your statement for charges you do not recognize.
- Be careful of follow-up calls that mention the fee.
